Mindfully Managing Microcaptives

At the end of this blog is the link to an article from Captive.com, a well-regarded industry trade journal for those in captive insurance. The article highlights good microcaptive management practices, all which Alliance Captive Management employs for not only its microcaptive clients, but all of its clients, regardless of the organizational structure of the captive. The article also discusses problematic captive practices which resulted in the captive owner (and sometimes the captive itself) experiencing negative tax consequences. We'd encourage everyone even remotely interested in captives to read the article.

Any prospective or current captive client of ACM should know this about us: we focus on the insurance needs of each client. With us, you will go through ACORD-based insurance applications; we will work with you to understand your risk exposures; and we work with one of the nation's largest and most-respected actuarial firms to provide an independent review of our work and to ensure that the captive's feasibility study and all premiums that are rated are commercially reasonable. We have written claims protocols which we diligently follow; and we work with our clients' financial advisors to ensure that the captives' assets are conservatively maintained to preserve the liquidity and solvency needed to pay claims as they arise.

ACM will only assist an organization with establishing and operating a captive if the insurance needs warrant it. Please contact one of the executives at ACM to learn more. We welcome your inquiries.
